The Sales Funnel For Effective Online Marketing

Apr 26

The sales funnel has been a fundamental part of business and marketing for ages. I've observed that funnels designed for Internet business are becoming increasingly well-known.

It is clear that people want to know more about this concept and the ways they can apply it to improve their online business marketing efforts. Read on to learn more on the sales funnel for Internet marketing success.

The Sales Funnel - What is it?

A marketing funnel does not necessarily mean a funnel. The term, "funnel", is used to visualize and explain the entire process of selling. Since it has a broad opening for customers who are "Unqualified prospects" at the top and a much narrower opening to convert sales at the bottom the term funnel is an accurate comparison.

People who are "unqualified prospects" are at the top of the funnel. These are people who have never spoken to you but may be interested in your product or services. There will be a lot of opportunities and sales in the future, and you'll also have customers who've purchased your product/service.

A lead generation funnel's effectiveness is also due to the capability to monitor the activities of your customers throughout the sales process. The sales funnel allows you to predict the number of potential customers that will eventually be customers by calculating the prospects who are qualified at each stage.

A sales funnel will allow you to see exactly what is going on and how your sales process is failing or working, or if your campaign isn't attracting a sufficient amount of prospective customers at any point in the process. This will allow you to decide the areas you need to concentrate your efforts and to maintain sales at the required level, as well as, to achieve your marketing objectives. It can be used to monitor and evaluate the customer's sales process.

The Sales Funnel Top or Front - End

The top part of your sales funnel will require the most constant testing and be the most engaged. There are virtually endless front-end strategies limited only by your creativity and resources.

The primary goal of the front- end will be to pull potential customers in and turn them into buyers later in the sales funnel.

A potential customer will be "qualified" when they sign up to your product or service. This is the point of the sales funnel at which the prospective customer or "Unqualified prospect" becomes a qualified leads due to the actions they've taken that show that they are sufficiently interested to buy your product.

Your front-end must be able drive targeted traffic to your site or blog. PPC advertisements, articles for marketing, PPC advertisements, social media such as Google+, Twitter and Facebook, YouTube, banners and blogs, forum posting and content marketing are all excellent sources.

There are many ways to "qualify" an "unqualified potential customer. One of the most effective ways to qualify prospects is to create an online squeeze page. It allows you to provide something valuable to your product which people can get for free, or at a significantly reduced price in exchange for their email address and name. The products offered vary from newsletters, video, e-mail courses, eBooks, related reports and more.

We can see that the front end is where customers are drawn to your sales funnel. But what do you think of the back-end?

The Bottom of the Funnel or the Back-End

The back-end or bottom of the sales funnel is where major profit and sales are made. It is where you will typically find higher-priced products there. They are generally relevant to the same niche but delivered in a different format, such as audio, video, live interaction or private consultation.

The main difference between front and back-ends lies in the type of client and the price of the service or product being offered.

Even though it is the case that a small percentage of people will be able to enter your front-end, only 1-2% will actually be able to make it into your back-end. It's okay, because this tiny segment will be investing more money.

You see, that while front end products and services can cost under $100, back-end products and services typically cost in the 100s or 1000's. This makes the back-end or bottom of the funnel sales funnel to be the main source of income for your Internet company, and it's the most predictable and solid part of the sales process.

As I mentioned in the past the sales funnel is customizable as much as your imagination and resources allow.
